갤러리조은은 2026년 7월 16일부터 8월 8일까지 이재현의 개인전 《Here I am》을 개최한다. 이번 전시는 갤러리조은에서 열리는 작가의 두 번째 개인전으로 작가가 꾸준히 탐구해온 기억과 감정의 서사를 바탕으로, 익숙한 일상의 풍경 속에서 발견되는 유년의 기억과 현재의 시간을 회화적으로 풀어낸 신작들이다.

기억이 머무는 자리, 오늘의 나를 만나다
이재현은 개인의 기억과 경험을 회화적 풍경으로 재구성하며, 과거와 현재가 공존하는 시간을 화면 위에 담아낸다. 그의 작품에는 상자와 강아지, 집, 정원, 벽돌처럼 우리 주변에서 쉽게 마주하는 사물과 공간이 등장한다. 이들은 단순한 정물이나 배경이 아니라, 각자의 삶 속에 자리한 기억을 불러오는 매개이자 감정을 담아내는 풍경이 된다.

작가는 감정의 기억을 매일 지나치는 익숙한 일상 위에 겹쳐 놓는다. 누구에게나 있을 법한 유년의 조각들은 그의 시선을 통해 다시 깨어나고, 기억의 단편은 상상력과 만나 새로운 회화적 장면으로 재구성된다. 화면 속 풍경은 특정한 이야기를 설명하기보다 관람자 각자의 기억과 감정을 자연스럽게 환기시키며, 서로 다른 경험들이 공감으로 이어지는 시간을 만들어낸다.

전시 제목 《Here I am》은 기억 속에 머물러 있던 과거의 나와 지금의 내가 하나의 화면에서 마주하는 순간을 의미한다. 작가는 캔버스 위에서 서로를 다독이고 위로하는 시간을 만들어내며, 치열한 일상을 살아가는 오늘의 우리에게 잠시 머물러 자신의 마음을 들여다볼 수 있는 여백을 건넨다. 그의 회화는 개인의 서사에서 출발하지만, 결국 누구나 공감할 수 있는 기억과 감정의 풍경으로 확장된다.

이번 전시에서는 20여 점의 신작을 선보인다. 임파스토(Impasto) 기법으로 두텁게 쌓아 올린 붓질과 자유로운 선은 기억의 층위를 화면 위에 쌓아 올리듯 깊은 밀도를 만들어낸다. 추상과 구상의 경계를 넘나드는 풍경 속에서 익숙한 사물들은 개인의 기억을 환기하는 매개가 되고, 과거와 현재의 시간이 하나의 화면 안에서 조용히 겹쳐진다.


Gallery Joeun presents Here I am, a solo exhibition by Lee Jae-Hyun, on view from July 16 to August 8, 2026. This marks the artist's second solo exhibition with the gallery and features a new body of work that builds upon his ongoing exploration of memory and emotion. Through painterly interpretations of familiar everyday landscapes, Lee reflects on childhood memories and the passage of time.

Where Memory Dwells, Meeting the Self of Today
Lee Jae-Hyun reconstructs personal memories and experiences into painterly landscapes, creating spaces where the past and present quietly coexist. His paintings feature familiar objects and places—boxes, dogs, houses, gardens, and brick walls—that are commonly encountered in everyday life. Rather than functioning merely as still-life motifs or backgrounds, these elements become vessels of memory, carrying emotional resonance and inviting viewers into intimate psychological landscapes.

The artist layers emotional memories onto the ordinary scenes we pass by each day. Fragments of childhood, familiar to us all, are awakened through his perspective, where recollection intertwines with imagination to form new pictorial narratives. Rather than illustrating a fixed story, his landscapes gently evoke each viewer's own memories and emotions, creating moments of empathy where individual experiences naturally converge.

The exhibition title, Here I am, refers to the moment when the self that remains in memory encounters the self of the present within a single painting. Through his canvases, Lee creates a space of comfort and quiet reflection, offering viewers a pause from the intensity of everyday life and an opportunity to reconnect with their inner selves. Although rooted in the artist's personal narrative, his paintings ultimately expand into landscapes of memory and emotion that resonate universally.

The exhibition presents approximately twenty new paintings. Built through richly layered impasto brushwork and expressive lines, each work accumulates the textures of memory with remarkable depth and density. Moving fluidly between abstraction and representation, familiar objects become catalysts for personal recollection, while past and present gently overlap within a single pictorial space.
